Fantastic, very high-grade specimen of abundant native gold in quartz with some sphalerite and galena from the C-2580 Stope, C Level, Spur Vein, Sunnyside mine, Eureka, San Juan County, Colorado USA. For this locality, this is about as rich as it gets, and the extremely precise locality information (quite rare for this material) is a real bonus. Mined by Sunnyside miner Ed Melka in January of 1978. Has well over an ounce of gold in it according to my specific gravity estimates. A real piece of Colorado mining history! Better in person with more gold showing! Mark Cross photos.
