“Betafite” (Uranopyrochlore): Silver Crater Mine, Faraday Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada

Species: “Betafite” (Uranopyrochlore)

Locality: Silver Crater Mine, Faraday Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada

Dimensions: 6.2 x 6.0 x 4.8 cm.

Absolutely HUGE well-formed single Betafite (uranopyrochlore) crystal from the famous Silver Crater mine near Bancroft, Ontario Canada. For this uncommon REE mineral this is a truly impressive crystal, quite well-formed and complete especially given that anywhere close to this size this tend to resemble “blobs” more than euhedral crystals. There is one very well-done repair that does not detract from this impressive betafite crystal! Ex. Dr. George Kamin collection. Rare!
